Create your own topographic map

Find an area, choose a map layer, paper size and fixed scale, then add a coordinate grid and create a print-ready map.

Up to 40 characters. Enter a sheet name before printing or saving a PDF.

For creating PDFs and printing, we recommend the latest Google Chrome on computers and Android devices. Page layout and scale issues may occur in browsers other than Google Chrome, especially on Android devices.

Drag the map with a mouse or finger. Using the mouse wheel or zoom buttons switches the map to free view. Measurements are horizontal map distances; slope and terrain may increase the actual walking distance.

How to use TopoHarita

  1. Type a place name in Search location and press Search.
  2. Pan the map by dragging it. You can zoom with the mouse wheel or the zoom buttons. Zooming manually switches a fixed scale to Free view.
  3. Press Measure distance, then select the start and route points in order. Segment distances appear on the line and the total horizontal distance appears in the measurement panel. Measurement lines are not included in PDF or print output.
  4. Choose OpenStreetMap or OpenTopoMap from the Layer menu. OpenTopoMap is generally more useful when you want a topographic terrain view.
  5. Select A4 or A3 in the Paper menu.
  6. Choose Landscape or Portrait.
  7. Select a fixed map scale. If you zoom after choosing it, the fixed scale is released and the map switches to Free view.
  8. Choose a UTM grid, latitude–longitude grid, both grids together, or no coordinate grid.
  9. When UTM is active, select a 1 km, 5 km or 10 km grid spacing.
  10. If you want mapped springs, water points, shelters, settlements, caves, bridges and similar OpenStreetMap features on the print, enable Terrain details.
  11. Enter a Sheet name of up to 40 characters. It appears on the map and is used as the suggested PDF file name. Location search does not change the sheet name.
  12. Press Print / Save PDF. TopoHarita waits for the map tiles and selected terrain details before opening the browser print dialog. Match the paper size and orientation, select Actual size or 100%, turn on background graphics, turn off browser headers and footers, and avoid fit-to-page scaling.
  13. After saving the PDF or printing, measure the 100 mm calibration line with a ruler. If it is not 100 mm, the print scale has changed. Measurements are horizontal map distances; slope and terrain conditions may increase the actual walking distance.

Map sources

Map data is provided by OpenStreetMap contributors. The topographic layer is rendered by OpenTopoMap. Source and licence attribution is preserved on the map and print output.

Terrain details show only features recorded in the OpenStreetMap database. A feature not appearing on the map does not prove that it is absent on the ground.

Privacy information

TopoHarita does not use accounts, a contact form or a payment system. It does not request your name, email address, phone number or payment details. Sheet names are not sent to our server; they are processed only on your device and in the map output you create.

Place searches use OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service, so the search text you enter is sent to that service. During normal operation, technical connection data such as IP addresses may be processed by Cloudflare, OpenStreetMap/Nominatim and OpenTopoMap under their own policies.

TopoHarita does not currently use advertising trackers or behavioural analytics. If a service requiring tracking preferences is introduced later, this notice and the necessary controls will be updated before it is enabled.

Close this print window and use the “Print / Save PDF” button on the site. The print dialog will reopen after the map is fully prepared.
